Monday + no school = Funday!
It was a blast when Leah, my adorable vegan American, but unfortunately not in Cedar Park living friend picked me and my friend Madleine from Sweden, also vegan (YES baby, go vegan) up to get to such a cool place in Austin. She also brought her friend Zoe with her, I’m lucky to meet so many nice people from all over the world. We went off to Barton Springs, which is a big public natural pool. When we left the pool to get lunch we walked next to the big Austin River on a tree shaded path, it was magical. There were people paddling on their surfboards and dogs enjoying the fresh but perfect water. Even though a lot of people were enjoying their free day in this kind of riverine oasis it haven’t seemed to be crowded at all. The nature created a peaceful and beautiful place to calm down. Anyway, we followed Leah, our Austin-Restaurant-Guide. On our way I was able to take some pretty cool pictures for my collection.
Finally arrived at Casa de luz and I couldn’t trust me eyes. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL! It didn’t feel like Texas, it must have been a mystical place somewhere else in Asia. The building was similar to a temple. I saw a Buddha sculpture, dreamcatcher, lovely quotes and beautiful architecture decorated with trees and plants and flowers, such as bamboo. What I liked best, of course, was the food and the super nice staff. All vegan, all local and made with love, trust me. They offer a fresh vegan menu everyday and they cook with sessional products only. I can totally recommend this nice Mexican restaurant. In addition, they have a tiny shop. Absolutely worth it to give it a chance, especially for families since it’s like a buffet except the main dish.

With yummie food filled bellys we went back to our car. We walked next to the river and when I saw this cool rope which looked like a vine I just couldn’t stop myself, I had to jump. Two really nice African men helped me to get on the string, as if they were waiting the whole day for someone who wants to jump. At first I had a little scary feeling in my stomach since the water wasn’t quite deep, but the African man explained me how to jump without hurting myself :D
To put the cherry on the cake Leah drove us to Oasis, a famous hill or mountain area next to the Travis Lake. I had literally one of the best ice cream ever with the best view. After that we tried to take a fancy picture of us in front of a wall which said: Oasis. I asked two different strange boys for taking a picture of us. Well, it seemed like both didn’t really like me, they said no :D Maybe I should give up my dream of working with children someday. Cause this was definitely not the first time kids tried to avoid me!
However, I caught another stranger, who looked like a professional photographer. He also gave us some different instructions how to pose, that was funny!
This weekend was a good one, thank you friends for giving me this cool opportunity and showing me around your town <3
For my lovely Grandma and Austrian people:
