Hey beautiful souls,
Today it's been a week since I arrived at the Austin airport. But actually it feels so much longer. There's still so much to do and so much to see and explore and fortunately there's plenty of time. I already do love my whole family, I'm so thankful to get such a new experience. I have never had little brothers, but I do now. And obviously I have never had three dogs :D Oh, and I've never lived in a vegan family, I guess that's an amazing advantage. Wooow, so many new things, what's happening around me?!
To be honest, like almost every exchange student from Europe I got to experience a really big cultureshock. And that's definitely not a bad thing! You just have to figure out how to handle it, maybe not everything is happening in a way you expected. But that's the point: you will learn to be flexible, honest and more self confident. That doesn't mean that you have to agree even if you don't, still try to be yourself. I'm also trying to be :)
"Everything is bigger in Texas", yeah, it is! When I first went shopping in a grocery store with my hostmum I couldn't believe my eyes. I wasn't able to find the exit.
As you may know, I live in a "suburban" of the capital city named Austin. Literally it looks more like a huge city to me, there's no sign of small things or places.
Another thing I want to mention - they produce a lot more waste than I'm used to back in Austria. I knew about that before, but I didn't know that the difference is so big. And because today was such a good one, and I want y'all to be happy let's write about the most important also positive things. I really feel so comfortable and loved, my Texan family is amazing and I'm pretty sure we will have a lot of fun together in the next time.
I thought you may be interested in the food habits in Texas. For further information swap to the category FOOD, I will give you a short impact :)
Sunshine and rainbows to all of you,
Anni
